STORYLINE:
Indonesian police announced on Saturday they had arrested four people in connection with last week's deadly bombing at the Australian Embassy in the Kuningan district of central Jakarta.
It's the first major breakthrough in the investigation into the attack.
Police chief General Dai Bachtiar said four men- as yet unnamed- have officially been designated as suspects in the bombing, which killed nine and wounded nearly 180, and are being held under anti-terrorist legislation.
Bachtiar said that he was "convinced" police would capture the attacks two alleged masterminds, Malaysian militants Azahari bin Husin and Noordin Mohamed Top.
Since the September 9th blast, police have taken scores of people in for questioning but most have been released.
Saturday's announcement marked the first time that police confirmed that they had placed suspects under arrest, meaning they will likely face criminal charges.
Meanwhile, the jailed cleric Abu Bakar Bashir, accused of heading a militant group blamed for last week's Australian embassy bombing, condemned the attack on Saturday and claimed Indonesian authorities are trying to frame him.
Outside Cipinang Prison where Bashir is being held, his lawyer, Wirawan Adnan, spoke to press on Saturday and said Bashir condemned the bombing and denied any involvement in terrorist activities.
The attack is being blamed on Jemaah Islamiyah -- a Southeast Asian militant network allegedly linked to al-Qaida.
Prosecutors say they plan to charge Bashir with heading Jemaah Islamiyah, and also for a deadly bombing last year at the JW Marriott Hotel in Jakarta that killed 12.
Bashir has been in jail since 2002, when he was convicted for minor immigration infractions.
