[Discussing how Contact Dermatitis affects the body]
Dr. Patricia Feito:
Hello, I'm Dr. Patricia Feito with Baptist Health Primary Care. Contact dermatitis is a skin inflammation that occurs when the skin has direct contact with a substance that is an irritant or allergen like poison ivy or nickel. A Red rash on the skin develops on the area where it's touched the substance, and it is itchy and may also be painful.
Dr. Patricia Feito:
The medication most often prescribed for contact dermatitis is a corticosteroid cream. This medicine treats contact dermatitis by reducing inflammation. Contact your primary care physician to learn more about your treatment options for contact dermatitis.
