In celebration for the 35 year old cult classic, this animation was made to respect the different adaptations of He-Man that have existed over the years that were not as widely recognized as what was first released in 1982 (which also makes the entirety of MOTU 40 years old) and beyond with the toys, show, and eventually the movie starring Dolph Lundgren and Frank Langella with nobody seeming to enjoy due to unrecognizable characters and a rushed script with what seemed to be a slow film. Even if said film wasn’t as well-received as the cast and crew had hoping when it came out, what they did receive years later was admiration from fans respecting the amount of imagination and creativity there can be when conceptualizing the environment of MOTU in which we would never had more interesting interpretations such as the New Adventures of He-Man, the 200x show, and even the critically panned Masters of the Universe Revelations, all of these shows had writers think of their own stories for viewers to see for themselves and imagination is something that should never have it limits for anyone to desire as long as they have the drive, the experience, and the power.
Almost one year ago I bought the Masters of the Universe Origins Battlefield Warriors Two Pack and instantly started animating with the two figures for how epic the two would look in stop-motion form with He-Man’s VAC metal armor and Battle Cat’s marble looking armor along side Skeletor and (I’m not kidding) the original Beast Man figure from the 1980s. As well as the Neca King Kong figure to go toe to toe with Battle Cat, almost a precursor to my fourth most popular video as of now. I held off this animation due to how difficult the sound effects would be with smoke and lightning effects, but thanks to movie editing and the right time, new ideas ignites new content.
The foley work for this was accomplished using butter knives, a leather jacket with a pillow underneath, a ruler, a 25 pound weight, and a soda bottle. For anyone who’s starting off working on foley art, please remember to stay safe when using different items as to not hurt yourself.
