Rumah Budaya Banda was founded in the 1980s and then it was renovated in the 1990s. Rumah Budaya Banda was originally an old house belonging to Des Alwi family and was used as a prayer room (mushola) at that time. Then the house was converted to hold the collections of Rumah Budaya Banda. The purpose of establishing Rumah Budaya Banda is to collect historical objects in Banda Neira because many historical objects were scattered, damaged, and traded outside Banda during that period. Rumah Budaya Banda features prehistoric artifacts, traditional artifacts, Dutch, Portuguese, and Chinese relics in its collection.
