On July 28, 2004, alumni Tony and Marie Mascolo, both '77, hosted a terrific Summer Send-Off event for new students coming to Binghamton University from Staten Island.

More than 70 students, parents and alumni gathered at The Parsonage on Arthur Kill Road in Staten Island to celebrate. Tony, a member of the Binghamton University Alumni Association Board of Directors, showed a DVD he created of photos and film of the University from his student days in the 1970s as well as current campus life. The DVD captured some of the long-standing traditions of the University.
Vice President for Student Affairs Rodger Summers spoke and tried to assuage any anxiety new students and their parents might have during this transition. Director of Undergraduate Admissions Cheryl Brown also spoke about the exciting time new students will have at the University. She also assured students and their parents that they had made the right decision in selecting Binghamton.
Equinox, a band composed of Binghamton University alumni Scott Krokoff '93, Brett Klein '94, Robert Hoff '95 and George Dierna '94 performed at the event.
