STORYLINE:
The Italian Postal Service in cooperation with the Jewish Community of Rome issued two stamps on Thursday to mark the centenary of the Great Synagogue of Rome, the temple inaugurated in 1904 in Rome.
The twin stamps, issued simultaneously in Italy and Israel, are both in Italian language and Hebrew language.
Six (m) million copies of each stamp will be printed, one will be white and the other a reddish colour. The white stamp, valued at 0,60 euro (0.72 US dollars) depicts the Great Synagogue of Rome. The reddish stamp worth 0,62 euro (0.74 US dollars) shows the same monumental synagogue half-covered on the foreground by a menorah, the Jewish seven headed candelabra.
