In Space Marine 2, we fight against the Chaos Space Marines of the Thousand Sons Legion. Most of these Chaos Space Marines will turn to dust when you execute them. This is because of the Rubric of Ahriman, a spell cast on the Thousand Sons Legion in an attempt to cure the so called "Flesh Change." The wild mutations of the flesh change arose because of the unstable Gene-seed of the Thousand Sons, and due to warp exposure. When Ahriman performed his spell it empowered all the Legion's sorcerers, but burned all their other brothers to ash and sealed their armour with fire. Their spirits within still fight on.
