On Sunday, the legendary bull-taming sport of Jallikattu began in the Avaniyapuram village of Madurai district, Tamil Nadu. Aneesh Sekhar, the district collector of Madurai, stated, "We've made every effort to ensure that Jallikattu runs smoothly. Ensure the safety of both bulls and players. There are three levels of barricading in place to protect both the bulls and the spectators." The Tamil Nadu government recently issued comprehensive guidelines for Jallikattu events. On Saturday, at least 15 people were injured while participating in Jallikattu in Andhra Pradesh's Chittoor district. The competition was held as part of the Makar Sankranti festival celebrations. Several eager young men took part in the sport, which was lavishly celebrated.
