Swimming World's Andy Ross presents the Ross Report, a video series showcasing some of the most interesting swimmers and divers you don't know much about.
This week's episode focuses on Olympic gold medalist Federica Pellegrini of Italy. Pellegrini was training at the International Swimming Hall of Fame and ISHOF Historian Bruce Wigo sat down with her.
Pellegrini insisted that the Tokyo Olympics in 2020 will be her fifth and final Olympics (if she qualifies). She also said she has not ruled out the 200 free in her Olympic program.
Pellegrini has won a medal at the World Championships in the 200 free from 2005-2017, including upsetting Katie Ledecky in Budapest in 17.
Pellegrini also has two Olympic medals to her name as she won silver in the 200 free in Athens in 2004 at the age of 16 and also won gold in Beijing in 2008. She still has the world record in the 200 free with her 1:52.98 from 2009.
Pellegrini talked about how her training has changed over time as she is now 30-years-old and still performing at a high level.
Pellegrini also showed her support for the International Swim League and said it is a good step forward for the sport.
