This program is more advanced in terms of outcomes, performance indicators, and assessments than the Bachelor of Arts in English Language Studies (BAELS), which was implemented in 2018. Shifting from teaching pedagogies, theories of language teaching, and teaching literature to research-focused graduate program. MAELS also accommodates CHED’s graduate education philosophy to generate new knowledge and produce relevant, collaborative, and interdisciplinary research. This is applied in the syllabuses that articulate the holistic view of language studies that explores the functions of language in various domains of communication and that apply and/or challenge frameworks and models of postcolonial English through the discourse of power, ideology, language, culture, and gender. To achieve this, the revision is geared towards research-focused outcomes, evidence-based research practices, and published article in any referred or reputable local, regional or national journal.
