In Greek mythology the cicadas were once humans before the Muses were born. When the Muses came into the world they enchanted them to sing, but the sang too much that they stopped eating and sleeping and eventually died. As a compensation, they were turned into cicadas, so they can sing continuously without any sustenance. In the song, Zora (tthe singer) asks the Muses to turn her into a cicada when she dies, in order to be able to still sing to her beloved one. In folklore, it's said that to hear the ring of a bluebell, is to hear one's death knell.
