After the largest artillery exchange in the Western Hemisphere, Confederate soldiers by the thousands march across the plains at Gettysburg and over the Emmitsburg Road to meet the Union Army head-on. This is my footage of the 150th Anniversary reenactment of Pickett's Charge held just outside the town of Gettysburg in July 2013.
This was the largest reenactment I have yet attended, with over 10,000 reenactors partaking and, with nearly 100 artillery pieces present, it was also the largest gathering of civil war canon since the battle itself. The audio and video does absolutely no justice to the sight and especially the sounds. With so much gunpowder going off, especially at the five minute mark, I remember the air becomes absolutely electric and bristles with energy. It is something I can not forget.
I augmented this footage with clips I captured at another Gettysburg reenactment two years prior in July 2011 because I had no close-ups whatsoever of the Confederate lines at the 150th anniversary reenactment and I felt it was necessary to flesh out that side of the battlefield.

This reenactment was done with blank rounds, which means gunpowder was inserted into the barrel but with no projectile. If you are interested in reenacting, just keyword it and look for a unit near you.
