How to get WILD starter Pokemon in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl! It's possible to find wild overworld Pokemon in the new grand underground, which can be accessed using the explorer kit!

All of the generation 1 to generation 4 starter Pokemon can be caught using this method! You need to make your way to the appropriate cave type in order to find the starter you are looking for.

Grass type starters - Grassland / swap areas
Fire type starters - Volcanic areas
Water type starters - Water / river areas

This means that you can capture, Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip, Turtwig, Chimchar and Piplup from the grand underground! It's also possible to collect almost every single Pokemon in the game down in the underground, bar legendaries and some exceptions.
