(22 Mar 2016) NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg says the alert state at NATO headquarters in Belgium has been increased as a result of the deadly attacks at Brussels' Zavantem airport.
Stoltenberg called the attacks at the airport 'cowardly' and an attack on our values and open societies.
The Secretary General added that terrorism will not defeat democracy or take away freedoms.
Three explosions hit the Belgian capital - two at the airport with the third at the city's Maelbeek metro station.
Belgian officials said the casualty toll from all three explosions is 26 dead and at least 136 injured.
