Will the Foreign Buyer’s Ban cool Canada’s Real Estate market? Some experts are saying that Foreign Buyers do not constitute enough market share for the ban to have any real effect on the housing market. Others are arguing that the government should be focused on supply rather than banning foreign buyers from the market.

However, a report from January issued by the Bank of Canada was argued to show that the increased market share held by real estate investors was enough to push up Canada’s prices. Given that investors only increased their share by 2 percent, and foreign buyers hold 2-3 percent of Canada’s real estate market, the absence of that 2 percent may just be enough to help cool down Canadian real estate.
