Mary Ellen Mark the photographer arrived in SOHO in 1974 and made it her base here until she died. With her work she depicted the trials and tribulation of people who lived outside the mainstream. She traveled extensively and brought us revealing images from India, the Near East and many other places. Her work has been shown and published widely and can be seen in many books on photography. We see her here in her studio on Greene Street shortly before her death. She was a pioneer of SOHO.
