The Bible says in chapter 12 verses 8 through 12:
The Parable of the Tenants Part 1
9“What then will the owner of the vineyard do? He will come and kill those tenants and give the vineyard to others. 10Haven’t you read this passage of Scripture:
“ ‘The stone the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone;
11the Lord has done this,
and it is marvelous in our eyes’ a ?”
12Then the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders looked for a way to arrest him because they knew he had spoken the parable against them. But they were afraid of the crowd; so they left him and went away.
Footnotes from the LIfe Application Study Bible:
12: 10-11 Jesus referred to himself as the stone rejected by the builders. Although he would be rejected by most of the Jewish leaders, he would become the cornerstone of a new “building”— the church (Acts 4: 11-12; 1 Peter 2: 4-7). Cornerstones are used as the base to make sure the other stones of a building are straight and level. Likewise, Jesus’ life and teaching would be the church’s foundation.
