Sahasralinga is a pilgrimage site located around 14 km from the Sirsi Taluk in the district of Uttara Kannada of Karnataka state in India. Sahasralinga is in the middle of the Shalmala river. What’s special about the place is the thousand shiv lingas carved into the stones. Sahasralinga means thousand lingas in Sanskrit. During Shivratri, when the water level in the river is lower, it reveals the shiv lingas and pilgrims throng the place to offer their prayers.
The Shiva Lingas were built under the patronage of Sadashivarayavarma, king of the Sirsi kingdom (1678-1718).
Sahasralinga can be reached by public busses travelling from Sirsi to Yellapura.
