Ethnomusicology is defined as "the study of social and cultural aspects of music and dance in local and global contexts." Sayings and Proverbs are used within African Cultural Music as a means of conveying, illustrating and justifying for and against certain traditional norms; Ebenezer Obey here uses an Interesting Yoruba saying: "Bi omode ba ti juba fun Oluwa; Ona a la Ire a wole." meaning "When a child honours God; a way will be made open and blessings will come in."
"Iberu Olorun" (God-Fearing) plays a large part within Yoruba Culture and Obey calls for People to Respect not only Elders but Children alike.
