the break in this case came courtesy of a son's confession---- michael sheffield -- who's step-dad's body was identified today -- gave police details that led to the arrest of his own mother -- ellen c-de baca -- fomerly ellen snyder. michael snyders ex-wife is accused of fatally shooting her husband at their home way back in 2002. for years she told police snyder walked out on the family---she even told her michael he left because he was having a gay affair. a police report states sheffield -- who was 17 years old at the time -- told police it was his mother who pulled the trigger killing his step dad. he admits to police in the reporte helped his mom wrap his body in plastic---soon after, she hired a back-hoe operator to bury the remains. "the fact that it has taken eight years to bring closure. obviously this has been very tough on michael, and the reason why this whole thing came to fruition is because he had told some of his friends what had happened , obvoiusly that was bother him, and friends coming forward sharing law enforcement to bring closure to case." police say they also have a gun that may have been used in the crime...after a friend of ellen snyder told police he once lent a fire-arm to her after she claimed she was in fear of her life. that neighbor turning the gun over to police in 2006. c-de baca heads to jail tonight -- just four days after investigators started digging through the yard of her former home. live downtown... jj eyen4. as jeremy mentioned -- ellen c de baca's son michael sheffield told police he helped his mother bury snyder's body. sheffield was only 17-years-old at the time. police say that fact and his cooperation in leading investigators to the body has allowed him to avoid charges for now. the distri attorney's office still has the final say in whether to charge sheffield with a crime
