The leaders of Japan, South Korea and the United States are set to cement a growing allegiance at their first standalone summit in the thick of an increasingly tense geopolitical arena. US President Joe Biden will host the summit at the Camp David retreat in Maryland, about 100 kilometres from Washington DC. It is a show of force by the allies in the face of China's assertiveness in the Asia-Pacific and North Korea's military threats.
