Haji Anayat Ali defected from the Jammu and Kashmir People's Democratic Party and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday. Ali's move came 3 weeks after the Centre abrogated Jammu and Kashmir's special status and the Parliament divided it into two Union Territories. Ali joined BJP in the presence of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Gajendra Shekhawat. Ladakh MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal was also present at the event.
