How to build a smart CO sensor and get alerts sent automatically to your phone when carbon monoxide levels are high! I created this sensor after seeing more and more cases where people forget to turn off their cars after pulling into their attached garage. It's more common now with the keyless ignitions I think. So this device will stay in the garage and if your car is still running, the CO level increase will be detected and an alert sent automatically to your smart phone.

We accomplish this using a Particle Photon ($19), and a SainSmart MQ-9 CO sensor ($8) from Amazon.com.
