This video describes the process that Shoreview Natives uses to successfully over-winter native plant seedlings. In our experience in northern Minnesota, the critical pieces of overwintering seedlings are ensuring there is a space underneath the trays or pots where water can drain through during the spring melt, and ensuring there is consistent insulation over the plants that are being over-wintered. This can be snow, leaves, concrete insulation blankets, a tarp with leaves and then another tarp, or any other variety of methods.
