Bronchoscopy is a procedure performed by a pulmonologist or thoracic surgeon that examines the major air passages of the lung through a thin, fiberoptic scope called a bronchoscope. This procedure enables the physician to detect diagnose lung cancer at an earlier stage providing a more favorable outcome.
