Crimeophobia News brings to the forefront the shocking tactics employed by property grabbing gangs in Urban India. On July 7th, 2023, a distressing incident unfolded at Mumbai’s residential property owned by a British NRI, exposing the audacious actions of a ruthless gang. CCTV footage revealed a group of men and women, led by female gang giving directions from behind to a man in a red T-shirt with his face concealed, entering the building with criminal intent. Among them were three women, identified as the wife and mother of a Mumbai Police Constable stationed at the Maharashtra State Government Assembly, also known as Mantralaya.
As the CCTV footage rolled, the man in the red T-shirt barged into the flat, while the two women waited outside, giving directions to all other men & women. Shockingly, it came to light that the Housing Society Secretary had been bribed to facilitate the crime in which a sum of Rs. 5 Lacs was transferred official to Society account and several Lacs unofficially. Security guards were instructed by the Society Secretary to allow the gang to remove furniture from the building while preventing any new items from being brought in. Unknown to the criminals, one of their own secretly recorded a video of the whole crime. Crimeophobia got hold of this video, which shows the gang causing severe damage and stealing things.
This incident revealed a well-planned and targeted crime, with the clear intention of illegally seizing the property, indicative of land grabbing activities often seen in rural India. The gang members left no stone unturned in ransacking the 2BHK flat, leaving behind a scene of utter devastation. From the wooden partition to switchboards, chairs, pillows, air conditioners, and cupboards, the entire residence bore the marks of their rampage. Not stopping at mere destruction, the criminals went to extreme lengths, forging fake property documents to establish false ownership of the residence. However, their plans were disillusioned, and several gang members, including the wife and mother of the police constable, were arrested. Crimeophobia played a vital role in providing crucial evidence to the police and acting as an Intervenor during courtroom arguments to highlight all the facts and evidence.
Despite these arrests, a number of male and female gang members remain at large, complicating the case further. The police are tirelessly pursuing these fugitives, relying on video evidence and eyewitness testimonies who assumed everything was a legitimate move because the society secretary confirmed it to be. However, apprehending them has proven challenging, as the Mumbai Police Constable's wife and mother, who were accused among the 8 ladies that were arrested and released on bail after nearly two weeks. Adding to the complexity is the alleged involvement of certain influential individuals, and documents authenticity but the factors changed due to the presence of Crimeophobia since the family members of British NRI wouldn’t have managed to proven that the flat wasn’t empty as it appeared in the end. The theft recovery from the accused were from the jurisdiction of a local Municipal Council Corporator, whose car was spotted outside the crime scene had already been reported by Crimeophobia Team with Photo evidence. Crimeophobia's Criminologist, Snehil Dhall, meticulously verified the authenticity of the CCTV footage and other evidence which also led to the return of items as well. The case's complications and involvement of influential figures underscore the need for a Property Grabbing Law in Maharashtra, similar to the Land Grabbing Prohibition Acts in many other states.
The situation of No Law No Punishment continues while Crimeophobia continues to establish this Property Grabbing Act as a Crime so that a Law can be made in the near future. We urge citizens to assist in bringing these property grabbing criminals to justice. It calls on the government of India to enact legislation to address property grabbing effectively. As the state lacks specific laws to tackle this crime, property grabbing has escalated to include flats, bungalows, offices and other types of properties in Urban India while land grabbing is common in Rural India. The public is encouraged to report any information regarding this gang or similar crimes to the police or Crimeophobia Team as Property Grabbing Case unlike Trespassing & Theft case for which Laws are adjusted within Indian Penal Code for such crimes. Together, united against such nefarious activities, we can protect our community from these property sharks and ensure that justice prevails. By standing strong and supporting one another, we can put an end to this heinous business and create a safer environment for all.
