🔸This composition is addressed to Lord Rama.
The gist of the composition—
Prostrations unto you Shri Rama for your protection from this worldly bondage. The one who is enchanted by the pre eminent sounds of muraLI, a boundless compassionate one, the favourite of the world, the one worshipped by Lord Shiva the father of Kumara (Subrahmanya), the father of Manmatha (the love God), the Lord of the daughter of King Janaka, and the one with the effulgence of a thousand Suns.
🔹Some things to note—
The one minute AlApana of the rAgam is presented with the notes of the scale and then the composition is rendered, highlighting the nuances of the rAgam through a number of repetitions.
🔸The composition, a short one, with just a samashTi caraNam, is full of prosodic delight. The second set of phrases in the caraNam, rendered in a faster tempo, sounds brilliant with the emphasis on the word Janaka that appears three times.
The gait of the composition seems to match Lord Rama, the steady, firm and unhurried monarch.
