The heartless crime happened in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn, New York and it is hard to imagine a more vulnerable victim, but at least police have huge clue as they try to track down the suspect.
That clue is a short piece of surveillance video, which makes you wonder- how long was he planning to snatch his 78 year old wheelchair bound victim's purse? Did he stalk his victim, or was it a greedy vicious impulse that made him do something to heinous?
No immediate answers to those questions tonight, but in the surveillance video you can clearly see the woman in the wheelchair. Her face is blocked out for privacy reasons. And you can also see the suspect.
In the video he comes up alongside the woman and seems to keep on walking. But then a sudden reverse, as he turns, and he springs into criminal action. He grabs the victim's purse right off the woman's lap, in broad daylight. He then runs off, headed south police say, along Wyckoff Avenue.
The crime happened on Wednesday, July 20th, just after 1 o'clock in the afternoon as the southeast corner of Wyckoff Avenue and Bleecker, but it is just coming to public attention now.
Tonight police shared this suspect description with the media: he's a white male, approximately six feet tall and 180 pounds, wearing a gray t-shirt, and dark colored shorts with a white stripe.
