Thanatophobia is an extreme fear of death and the dying process. Many people diagnosed with terminal illnesses experience these fears and have a very difficult time accepting what is happening to them. As a result of this fear, new generations are taking life into their own hands by hosting living funerals. These funerals and the process involved with them are believed to be therapeutic for the "transitioning". They provide insight into the burial process, and inspire those expected to "transition" to express their concerns with others about the process. It also allows those expected to "transition" to express concern for the loved one (s) they will leave behind. The purpose of this is to promote positive mental health about the idea of "transitioning". Our mini-series episodic vodcast depicts a middle-aged woman who is in the process of planning her funeral in an effort to accept the idea of "transitioning". She uncovers the common skepticisms surrounding burial planning, funeral services, and the overall "transitioning" process. In the end, she plans to host her own funeral, and we plan to stream it live.
