The new Fendt 900 Vario not only convince with best traction and highest soil protection. But also with the unique Fendt Vario transmission, a completely new ride suspension, a comfortable cab and the most advanced Fendt technologies for Precision Farming.
Fendt entered the tracked tractors market sector for the first time at Agritechnika 2017 in the upper performance range from 380–646 HP.
With the new Fendt 900 Vario MT and Fendt 1100 MT tracked tractors, AGCO/Fendt can now offer high-performance traction machines above 500 HP for professional farmers who need maximum power.
A completely new tracked model: Fendt 900 Vario MT
The new Fendt 900 Vario MT tracked tractors are available in three output levels: Fendt 938 Vario MT with 380 HP, Fendt 940 Vario MT with 405 HP and Fendt 943 Vario MT with 431 HP (ECE R120).
The tracked tractors in the Fendt 900 Vario MT series (Mobile Trac) are especially efficient in covering large areas, and feature a whole new level of ride comfort, based on a completely new innovative suspension concept.
A unique tracked suspension concept
Vastly improved handling on the road and in the fields was a key objective of the development work on the Fendt 900 Vario MT. The new suspension concept consists of four elements; an air-sprung operator's seat, 2-point cab suspension, the new SmartRide primary suspension, and the reworked drive with ConstantGrip suspension.
ConstantGrip: The three middle track rollers are fitted in the track frame via the pendulum suspension (bogie in bogie). This allows the track rollers to be adjusted to follow the ground contours in the fields and on the roads. Other benefits include an even weight distribution over the entire treadbar surface and maximisation of the contact area in the fields.
SmartRide: The main beam for the drives is connected to the chassis by the newly developed suspension. The suspension consists of:
• Sturdy helical springs with integrated pressure surge dampers
• Additional hydraulic shock absorbers for damping if bouncing occurs
• Hydraulic shock absorbers and spring pads guarantee optimal suspension behaviour when bouncing occurs, and limit the spring travel
• The torque rod stabiliser bar provides the chassis with lateral stability.
This results in a significant longer spring travel of 260 mm in total (measured on the front guide wheel). The suspension allows a swing angle of 11° on each drive, and is therefore comparable with the front axle suspension of a wheeled tractor.
Cab suspension: The Fendt 900 Vario MT is the first conventional tracked tractor with a 2-point cab suspension, consisting of two dampers with rubber buffer on the front and helical springs with integrated shock absorber on the back. The total spring travel on the cab rear is 98 mm and provides very soft suspension for effective damping of vibrations, which are transferred directly from the ground via the rigid rear axle.
High efficiency on difficult terrain
The new Fendt 900 Vario MT tracked tractor is especially suited to difficult traction work, and operates at maximum efficiency when used mainly in the fields. Due to the low drag over a wide range of ground conditions, maximum efficiency is achieved when unfavourable weather conditions and the resulting short working window demand it. Its large ground contact area and the new, larger crawler track makes the Fendt 900 Vario MT ideal for steep gradients, or when it comes to completing a pass as quickly as possible whilst protecting the ground.
The 900 Vario MT allows a small turning circle on the headland, and is ideally suited to wide implements or equipment with a large operating depth. With these characteristic features, the Fendt 900 Vario MT tracked tractor is a valuable addition to the Fendt tractor range.
Fendt VarioDrive – drive train for maximum traction power and increased efficiency
Fendt continues to forge ahead with the innovative VarioDrive concept. As seen on the Fendt 1000 Vario, the hydrostatic-mechanically power split drive train is also an outstanding feature of the Fendt 900 Vario MT with its larger hydraulic units. The benefits of the low speed concept are therefore not only evident during use in the fields. Even when driving on the roads, the Fendt 900 Vario MT tracked tractor reaches the maximum speed of 40 km/h at just 1550 rpm.
