Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a complex developmental disorder characterized by a wide range of neurological features. While many studies have primarily focused on behavioral aspects, recent evidence suggests a strong connection between ASD and the immune system. Consequently, researchers aimed to explore the immunological characteristics of ASD using an MAO A gene knockout mouse model.
In this video, we will share the research findings from a study titled 'Autoantibody profiling of monoamine oxidase A knockout mice, an autism spectrum disorder model.' This study uses the MAO A gene knockout mouse model as a new approach to researching ASD. This model exhibits increased serotonin levels and ASD-like behaviors, making it an essential tool for ASD research.
