Meet Joleen. She had a non-traditional career path on her way to becoming a trademark, contract, business and entertainment law attorney, starting as a rock promoter during the grunge era in Seattle. Joleen owned a successful artist management, talent book, concert production and special event small business that represented music companies like RKCNDY nightclub and Kelly Curtis Management and they featured bands like Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains and Screaming Trees.
Then one day, one of her friends told her she should be a lawyer. She took the advice and enrolled in the Seattle University School of Law. With her past experience and passion for entertainment and business, Joleen started her own practice to help others launch their own businesses. Now she helps guide fellow entrepreneurs and small business owners living at the intersection of entertainment and technology in music, games, apps, motion pictures and sports.

Joleen: A very good friend of mine said, "You should become a lawyer," and I went to law school. I didn't tell anybody that I even applied.
The next thing I knew, I was working at a company in town called RealNetworks. I was one of the first lawyers that merged traditional media with digital media and it was just a really great time to become a lawyer.
Owning a business takes a lot of belief in yourself and conviction in your ideas. Most people don't think twice about hiring an accountant or getting someone on board to do sales, but having a really good legal partner can save so much time and so much money and so much hassle.
Clients like to work with me and my law firm because we get very involved. We are the biggest fans of our clients and we work very, very hard to work within whatever their current parameters are, whatever their current business needs are. At the end of the day, we become part of the team and that's the greatest value we provide.
