2009 has been a wonderful year for Streetza! And we have our customers to thank for it. Oooh, and twitter & facebook. Thank you social media for allowing us to spread the word about our little pizza truck. We had a great time meeting new friends traveling to places we had never been before and creating crazy pizza topping concoctions. Some of the most memorable moments for us this year:
1.The twitter parties! Milwaukee has one of the most active twitter populations in the midwest. We loved following and learning more about you. And thank you for listening to and RTing us.
2. Top 10 Food Trucks in the U.S. award from GQ Magazine. Never did I think I would make it into GQ for any reason.
3. Best Street Food in Milwaukee - Editor's Choice from OnMilwaukee.com. OnMilwaukee did several stories on us this year. The editors and staff are so great to work with, and the readers are loyal and so much fun.
4. 2nd best pizza in Milwaukee - WISN's A-list. This is the perfect example of the power of social media. We pride ourselves on making what we feel is the best pizza possible. It was great to have thousands of people vote for us in this prestigious competition. We were in first for a long time, but at the end, we're proud to say that we have the best pizza in Milwaukee after 10 p.m. (as this is when the 1st place winner closes.)
5. 91.7 FM WMSE collaborations. We were happy to help our favorite radio station this year by helping raise funds through various promotions. The WMSE Meatball slice is crazy delicious and with your help, we managed to sell hundreds of slices of it. All the profits from this slice were donated back to the station.
6. Milwaukee Hurling Club. Did you know we had a Hurling Club?!?! Us either until we met participants through twitter. We spent many Sundays watching the games and selling pizza to a hungry crowd. And at the end of it all, we donated back a big chunk of the profit back to the club.
7. Chill on the Hill in Bay View. I've loved Bay View since I can remember. It's truly one of Milwaukee's coolest neighborhoods. We spent just about every Tuesday "chillin' on the hill" in Humboldt Park this year and had a great time at their Halloween celebration. We look forward to more great concerts and neighborhood-centric pizzas next year.
8. Drunk people on Water Street. It would have been much harder giving up our weekends if the customers that visited the truck from 1:00 a.m.-3:00 a.m. weren't so entertaining. Hopefully we helped you sober up a little.
9. Support from family, old friends, new friends and just about everyone in Milwaukee. We couldn't have made it through the year without your support, ideas and help. Thanks to each and every one of you. Special thanks to @tkdfool, @olgathomas, @AjBombers, @Blatzliquor, and @the_beth
