MID-LINE-TENSIONLESS-HITCH:
I often use a Tensionless-Hitch as a Base-Anchor for Rigging Hold-Lines. With this technique I don't need access to either end of the line. And, both ends of the line can be loaded. It is generally accepted that a Tensionless-Hitch might be the only knot that retains virtually all the rope strength. However, the BIG advantage, for rigging, is that it can be released under significant tension, which often happens with Hold-Lines.
EZPZ: Pull a bight that will wrap three times around the 'anchor' tree — plus enough to tie a Clove-Hitch around the Hold-Lines. Then, simply wrap and tie.
Also, there is a Mid-line-Clove-Hitch.
