If you're taking a short trip or you're only an occasional cigar smoker, you don't have to invest in a humidor. Learn how to store that special occasion cigar without one.
Step 1: Put your cigar in a sealable plastic bag
Put a cigar in a sealable plastic bag with a small damp paper towel if you're only keeping it fresh for a day or two.
Step 2: Buy a quality cigar in a "tubo"
Buy a quality cigar in a tube or "tubo" provided by the cigar manufacturer. Tubos are made with the intent of keeping an individual cigar properly humidified.
Step 3: Keep your cigars stored in a sealed factory box
Keep your cigars stored in a factory box that's still sealed in a wrapper. Keep the cellophane-sealed box in a cool, dark place.
Tip
An individual cigar in a wrapper that's unopened can remain fresh for several days.
Step 4: Add a humidity pack to an opened box
Add a humidity pack to an opened factory box. While quality cigar makers include humidity packs in factory boxes, you can buy similar humidity packs from a tobacconist.
