Best Commuter Towns Bergen County New Jersey - To NYC

One of the biggest reasons why people choose to live in Bergen County is the easy commute to New York for work or school.
That, combined with the fact that they can keep their family life separate from their work-life is why Bergen County is a great place for families and individuals who are looking for that perfect balance between work and life.
Few facts that I took in consideration before making this list :
1)I have chosen towns that offers train ride to the city, in all of them of course you do have the bus option as well.
2)I was looking into the avg sales price according to the njmls stats for last quarter of 2021 in addition to the avg yearly real estate tax bill in order to give you some more information about the towns that we will discuss.
The trip to the city is similar In all the towns that we will going to discuss shortly.
The trip is the following:
Your going to the take one of the train lines that goes into the county and then you will have 2 options to get into the city :
Option #1 :
You will get off in Secaucus Junction and switch to one of the other 6 train lines that available in NJ (show logos of the the 6th train lines )and ride all the way to Pen Station in NYC.
Option #2:
You will ride with the train all the way to the final stop witch is Hoboken and then you will take Path train to downtown Manhattan and work your way up to Midtown Manhattan 33rd St .
In Bergen county there are 3 main train lines that goes into county :
1)the main line
2)the Bergen county line
3)The Pascack Valley line
So, what are some of the best commuter towns in Bergen County? Let’s take a look at some of my favorites.
We are going to start from the lowest Avg sold price and lowest yearly tax bill.

1. Westwood
Number of residence is 12K
The Avg sold property price is 586K.
Avg yearly tax bill is 10,758
The Ride :
Take the Pascack Valley Line and proceed with switching in Secaucus Junction to one of the other 6 train lines or ride all the way to Hoboken and take the Path to Train to downtown Manhattan .
Commute time is around 40 minutes
2. Emerson
Number of residence is 7,500 , the smallest town
The Avg sold property price 564K.
Avg yearly tax bill is 12,565
The Ride :
Take the Pascack Valley Line and proceed with switching in Secaucus Junction to one of the other 6 train lines or ride all the way to Hoboken and take the Path to Train to downtown Manhattan .
Commute time is around 40 minutes.
3. River edge
Number of residence is 11,000
The Avg sold property price 667K.
Avg yearly tax bill is 13,513
The Ride :
Take the Pascack Valley Line and proceed with switching in Secaucus Junction to one of the other 6 train lines or ride all the way to Hoboken and take the Path to Train to downtown Manhattan .
Commute time is around 40 minutes.
4. Oradell
Number of residences is 8,000 the second smallest town in our list
The Avg sold property price 689K.
Avg yearly tax bill is 15,311
The Ride:
Take the Pascack Valley Line and proceed with switching in Secaucus Junction to one of the other 6 train lines or ride all the way to Hoboken and take the Path to Train to downtown Manhattan.
Commute time is around 45 minutes.
5. Glen rock
Number of residences is 12,000
The Avg sold property price 841K.
Avg yearly tax bill is 16,804
The Ride:
Take the Main Line and proceed with switching in Secaucus Junction to one of the other 6 train lines or ride all the way to Hoboken and take the Path to Train to downtown Manhattan .
Commute time is around 40 minutes
6. Ridgewood
Number of residences is 25,000
The Avg sold property price is almost 1.1M.
Avg yearly tax bill is 18,237
The Ride:
Take the Main Line and proceed with switching in Secaucus Junction to one of the other 6 train lines or ride all the way to Hoboken and take the Path to Train to downtown Manhattan.
Commute time is around 50 minutes.
Ridgewood also offer some of the best schools in the whole state of NJ.
