The grandeur of Mysore Palace ✨🏰
Located in Namma Mysuru, and also known as Amba Vilas Palace, the current structure was completed in 1912 after the old palace burnt down. It seated the kingdom of Mysuru and is the official residence of the Wadiyar dynasty. 🤴
It is one of the seven palaces of Mysuru the brings the name “city of palaces”. The construction cost was placed at Rs 41,47,913 (around $30 million adjusted to inflation). 💰
It is a popular tourist destination, specially during the most grand festival of Hindus, the Dussehra. The 10 days festival that starts from Navaratri and ends with Vijayadashami, is celebrated with pride and pompous at the Mysore Palace. The Hindu festival of Dasara, Navratri and Vijayadashami celebrates the victory of good over evil. It was the day in the Hindu legends when Goddess Chamundeshwari (Durga) killed the demon Mahishasura. 🙏
Illuminated with thousands of lights, processions of goddess Chamundeshwari idol, elephant procession, display of state sword & weapons, are all the grand activities of the celebration. ✨
