Ilma Afroz, daughter of a farmer in Uttar Pradesh bagged 217th rank in UPSC 2017 to join the Indian Police Service (IPS). Coming from a small village Kundarki in Moradabad district of Uttar Pradesh. She lost her father when she was just 14-years-old. But Ilma was always determined to do well in life. Graduated from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi, Ilma went on to study at Oxford University in London and she also had a chance to work as an intern with Bill Clinton Foundation in New York and United Nations voluntary program in Indonesia. She also went to France as part of Paris School of International Affairs Exchange Program. Coupled with her mother's struggles and her own grit and determination, Ilma is now able to materialise the dream of serving her country.
