Edwin Mingard (UK) is artist in residence at Gasworks 19 October 2020 - 11 January 2021.
Edwin is a London-based artist without regular access to a studio who was invited to use Gasworks' studios while the international residencies programme is on hold due to the pandemic.
As part of Gasworks' online open studios, we are taking a closer look at Edwin's practice to see what they've been up to in the last couple of months.
Edwin is an artist working across film, installation, publications and photographic projects. The medium responds to the content of the work, which is socially created in collaboration with people with lived experience of specific social or political issues. He works collaboratively through every stage of the process, using the production as an opportunity to share skills and knowledge.
During his residency, Edwin has been developing a new film project in East London, made in collaboration with a network of people who have lived experience of the UK Home Office hostile environment government policy. As founder of Satellite, a moving-image production company that supports artists from under-represented backgrounds.
