3. SOUNDBITE (Portuguese) Paulo Portas, Portugal's Deputy Prime Minister:
"I had the opportunity to inform Brazil's Vice President that Portugal ended the agreement it had with Troika (International Monetary Fund, European Commission and the European Central Bank) and this was at the first stage that the deal allowed us to do so. There should be no delay to regain our freedom and self-reliance."

5. SOUNDBITE (Portuguese) Michel Temer, Brazil's Vice President:
"And I mentioned that, also in Brazil, a budget adjustment is underway with the same purpose - we are adjusting to continue to grow. This is a subject that is currently being reviewed in Congress - it will certainly have the support of our congressmen -, and I will take it with me to Brazil, what we all know already, that the adjustment (programme) here in Portugal led to major results."
6. Portugal and Brazil's delegation members
7. SOUNDBITE (Portuguese) Michel Temer, Brazil's Vice President:
"Keep believing in Brazil. Brazil is preserving and reinforcing its democratic institutions, not only in the search for growth - something that has already been noticed. And I should express that - the so called street movements (recent large protests against corruption and the Petrobras scandal) - a big part behind it was the 40 million (m) people that had no voice before and that began having a voice."

STORYLINE:
Brazil's Vice President Michel Temer on Tuesday called on Europe to "keep believing in Brazil" during his visit to Portugal.
Speaking in a joint news conference alongside Portugal's Deputy Prime Minister Paulo Portas, Temer said that Brazil was reinforcing "its democratic institutions", referring to the recent and ongoing corruption scandal of Brazil's Petrobras, which also involves members of President Dilma Rousseff's government.
During his official visit to Lisbon, Brazil's Vice President also met Portuguese President Anibal Cavaco Silva and Prime Minister Pedro Passos Coelho.
The visit was aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between both countries and also included meetings with local businessmen as well as the signing of various agreements in trade, legal, social and technological areas.
