When we think about foods we enjoy, we almost always consider the flavor. Another characteristic to consider is the texture. Mixing up textures, adding a little crunch, can take a salad from good to WOW!
Today: Adding nuts or seeds and dried fruit (¼ cup or less of each) to your salad—just enough to add a little crunch and a burst of sweetness to a few bites of you salad. Nuts, seeds and dried fruits are calorically dense, which means they have a lot of calories even when we eat just a few of them. Adding too many nuts and seeds will overwhelm the taste of the salad and also increase the number of calories.
