Representing the Change, Púca is a shapeshifter, a trickster, a mischievous spirit and at the heart of the festival. Púca is covered in long hair that sways as she does. She can be found to have multiple heads and limbs as well as horns and claws.
Unfortunately, due to the impact of COVID-19, Fáilte Ireland and festival partners Meath County Council and Louth County Council have made the difficult but unavoidable decision to suspend the Púca Festival for 2020.
This year, we will be celebrating Ireland’s authentic claim to be the original birthplace of Halloween virtually. At 8pm on the 31st October we will launch the lighting of the Samhain fires video filmed earlier this year. Together we will celebrate of the story of Halloween’s origins in Irish and Celtic traditions.
