St. Louis County, Missouri — On Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at approximately 4:30 PM, an officer from the Breckenridge Hills Police Department conducted a traffic stop involving a 2014 Lexus near the intersection of Calvert and North Streets. The stop was initiated due to violations related to the vehicle's license plate and excessively tinted windows.
During the stop, the officer observed what appeared to be possible signs of intoxication and requested the driver exit the vehicle to perform a field sobriety test. The driver, however, refused to comply.
As the driver searched for their insurance card, the officer placed a tire deflation device near one of the vehicle’s tires as a precaution. Moments later, the driver fled the scene. The officer immediately activated emergency lights and sirens, initiating a pursuit.
Upon catching up to the vehicle and attempting to approach, the driver fired shots at the officer. Law enforcement returned fire, striking the suspect, who was subsequently taken into custody and transported to a local hospital for life-saving medical treatment.
On Thursday, October 31, 2024, the St. Louis County Prosecutor’s Office filed formal charges against the suspect, identified as 30-year-old Jevon Henderson. The charges include first-degree assault on a special victim, unlawful possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and resisting arrest.
Investigators discovered a 9mm semi-automatic pistol and an AR-15-style weapon inside Henderson’s vehicle, along with two spent 9mm shell casings. During the incident, law enforcement officers discharged a total of 87 rounds.
