The Uganda Human Rights Commission says the police have been using wires, batons and their gun butts to torture suspects at the Nalufenya detention centre in Jinja district. The Commission’s acting Chairperson, Dr Amooti Katebalirwe made the revelation after holding a meeting with security agencies at their headquarters in Kampala. The police, who have lately come under sharp criticism for torturing suspects did not attend the meeting.
