Calix Limited working on LEILAC (Low Emissions Intensity Lime And Cement) , a project of the European Union Horizon 2020 Research & Innovation, will pilot a breakthrough carbon capture technology that would enable both Europe’s cement and lime industries to reduce their carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions dramatically without significant energy or capital penalty.

LEILAC has received €12m of funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 (H2020) research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 654465.

Running for five years from 2016 to 2020, the project team comprises leading industrial, technology and research & development partners. The pilot plant will be hosted by Heidelberg Cement at Lixhe in Belgium.
