Navratri Day 1 : Mata Shailaputri | With Mantra Chants by Ankit Batra

Navratri: Nav(nine) ratri(nights). Navratri, in Hinduism, signifies the holy nine days which are observed two times in a year. It is said that nine Avatars of “Maa Durga” come and bless you during navratri. Ram Navmi marks the end of First Navratri of the year, whereas Vijayadashami (Dussehra) marks the end of second Navratri of the year.

Ist day of the Navratre, also known as Partipada, celebrates the Arrival of Maa Shailputri. Shailputri-Daughter of the Himalayas, is Lord Shiva’s wife also known as Parvati.

Arrival of Maa is celebrated by reciting Mata ke bhajan. The whole navratri, temples are decorated, bhajans are sung, the festival is celebrated all over the North India with pomp and show.
