This first session of the Advanced Concepts in CFD for Formula Student and Formula SAE workshop introduces participants to aerodynamic mapping, a technique used in F1 to show how the wing elements and ride heights on a race car perform under different settings in terms of lift and drag.
Designing aerodynamic elements for Formula Student race cars is not an easy task. Knowledge of computational fluid dynamics is now a prerequisite for any team wanting to move their way up the leaderboard at Hockenheim, Silverstone, or Michigan.
SimScale and Formula Student Germany joined forces to offer this workshop which is for teams who are already using CFD in their development process and want to get their cars in peak performance shape for the competition season.
