Destiny 2’s Season of the Splicer is almost at an end. There are just a few more weeks until season 15 launches and the Witch Queen is revealed, and less than two weeks until the Epilogue arrives and we do some sort of mission for it. We have been missing one thing in particular, however, an exotic ship that has been publicly shown off by Bungie already, packaged as part of the press kit. It’s called Forbidden Memory, and as of yet, it’s nowhere to be found this season. It is very, very Splicer themed, with the color scheme and designs of the Splicer weapons we’ve been farming from Overrides this whole time. So where is it? Are we just waiting for another Eververse rotation? What’s going on here? Nope, and I believe this is going to be an earned in-game reward if you participate in the events of the Epilogue, and that’s why we haven’t heard anything about it yet. Hence why it’s themed like other Splicer stuff, and why we haven’t seen it to this point. I checked to see if this ship had any lore attached to it, and it does, which confirms my belief. I do not think there is anything in here that can be considered a true spoiler, and it does not reveal any significant new information past the Epilogue lore page Bungie already released early in-game. In the lore page, we have Zavala waiting until nighttime to visit the memorial mentioned in the last lore page. We still do not know who this memorial is for, but it seems to be probably a group of humans and Eliksni who die when the Vex attack the Botza District (again, not a huge surprise, and something revealed in past screenshots and Lakshmi prophecies). But the lore talking about the memorial seems to confirm the idea that this ship is something we earn as a prize for completing the last Epilogue mission, maybe Mithrax gives it to us, I don’t know. But the end of the lore is the most interesting part of it, a flashback to a time in Zavala’s past when there was someone he loved:“Zavala placed the candle amongst its extinguished fellows, soothed by the tiny, flickering flame. He reached back, calling forth another memory:Her lithe form, curled under the thin blankets in contented sleep. The predawn glow seeping into the room. Her dark curls splayed across the white pillow. Her musky, floral scent. Her clothes strewn across the furniture. He yearned to reach out and awaken her—see her drowsy smile, hear her voice. But he knew that would transform the experience from memory to fantasy; he wanted to preserve her as she was: perfect and mortal. Then the moment vanished; he was Commander Zavala once more.”Cute. Sad, but cute. If this woman has appeared in the lore before, I haven’t heard about her. I’ll consult Byf. In any case, a rare glimpse into Zavala’s personal life here. Looking forward to the Epilogue and I’m always in favor of exotic rewards that are not locked into Eververse. Expect to see this the reset after next.
