Lyrics:
The blue supergiant Rigel
In the Orion constellation
Seventh brightest star in the night sky
Looks blue and white to the human eye
The blue supergiant Rigel
In the Orion constellation
Sailors use it to navigate
It loses solar mass at a rapid rate
Yeah
40,000 times brighter than our sun
The supergiant star Rigel's in the left leg of Orion
Lotta people don't know that Rigel isn't just a single star
It's actually a cluster which is why astronomers found it hard
To measure just how many there are, but to you and me
It appears to be one star when actually it's two or three
Or maybe four, some say more, but we won't get caught up there
Just enjoy the light 'cause Rigel's got plenty of it to share
The blue supergiant Rigel
In the Orion constellation
Seventh brightest star in the night sky
Looks blue and white to the human eye
The blue supergiant Rigel
In the Orion constellation
Sailors use it to navigate
It loses solar mass at a rapid rate
Yeah
Beta Orionis is Rigel's designation
And it is the brightest star in the Orion constellation
It's also a corner of what they call the Winter Hexagon
With a bunch of other stars like Sirius and Procyon!!!
Rigel is also what they call a navigation star
Sailors use them to help determine what their positions are
So Rigel gives them clues about their latitude and longitude
That's all for now, see you later dude!
The blue supergiant Rigel
In the Orion constellation
Seventh brightest star in the night sky
Looks blue and white to the human eye
The blue supergiant Rigel
In the Orion constellation
Sailors use it to navigate
It loses solar mass at a rapid rate
Yeah
