This composition is addressed to goddess Gayatri, using the name of the rAgam as a rightful epithet for Her.
The gist of the composition—
I meditate upon the goddess Shri Gayatri, the one who severs the creeper of sins of the devotees, and the bestower of bounty as a reward for ceremonial sacrifice. The one who resides in the hearts of the yOgis, who is a destined part of the hallowed twice born people, and is of the form of 24 lettered sacred hymn. The one who has a smiling face effulgent with five colours, who is of the form of radiant light, giver of boons, one who wields the weapons of restraint and whip, the three eyed one, who is free of any impurities, and the one who delights in the pre eminent music of muraLI.
Some things to note—
After a two plus minutes AlApana of the rAgam, the composition is rendered.
The composition, a lucid description of goddess Gayatri with simple and elegant lyrics, is rendered with emphasis on them through right enunciation and bhAvam.
There is a crisp svara vinyAsam as a fitting finale for the rendition.
